Welcome to the July 2025 edition of The Money Statistics,
The Money Charity’s complete monthly round-up of statistics about how we use money in the UK, kindly funded by Vanquis.
The striking numbers include:

GDP is estimated to have declined in April and May.

Petrol prices went up in June, and the inflation rate picked up again to 3.6%.

Unemployment has been rising, including in the three months to May, with a high unemployment rate (12.2%) for people aged 18-24.

The student debt figures for 2024-25 came out this month and show another large increase (9.8%) to an average of £53,010 per person for the latest cohort in England.
